The evening howls in silence
A muted darkness falls over
So deafening the stillness,
As thoughts of you still linger.
A light gentle wind drifts by,
With the warmth of a summer breeze
How strange the tides seem to be
When a lonely heart is in need of ease.
Staring blankly at the ceiling above
Casting shadows in my mind
Asking myself again and again
Alas, empty answers are all I could find.
Then sadness engulfs without warning
Drowning me in these four walls.
Why it appears too difficult to grasp
Such matters of the heart and all.
Yes people falter, but I don't get
The changes that never seem to end
Do I lose myself in the process?
Or do I ask my heart to mend?
In this abyss where longing ensues
Your silhouette persists to taunt
A familiar dampness runs on my face,
The taste of hurt remains to haunt.
So I close my eyes and heave a sigh
While I fathom the depth of what was.
"Love can't be found where it doesn't exist
Nor can it be hidden where it truly does."
