Season 1, Episode 17 - MISS

Wala pang official information akong natatanggap pero I think it’s happening.

No formal one-on-one briefing has been done but I see it coming.

It’s peculiar how I’ve managed to get the news from various sources but none from an authoritative capacity. Puro lang mga haka-haka.

But an e-mail forwarded to me confirmed it. I’m moving to Ayala indefinitely.

One week to go na lang pala and it’s starting to sink in.

I’m gonna miss L-carnitine at ang munting sari-sari store nya sa pantry.

I’m gonna miss my morning servings of Cheese Rings and Rebisco Super Thin Flakes.

I’m gonna miss the second-floor view sa room ko.

I’m gonna miss Printer 4 and its recurring problems na hindi pa rin nalulutas.

I’m gonna miss BTC and Robinson’s Supermarket.

I’m gonna miss the never-ending food supply sa pantry.

I’m gonna miss my consistent first-floor-to-second-floor-and-vice-versa trips.

I’m gonna miss the back-office.

I’m gonna miss the back-office digital weighing scale.

I’m NOT gonna miss the Banilad traffic.

I'm gonna miss Avery and Deli.

I’m gonna miss Rocky Vega’s customary after-office hours stopovers sa office ko.

I’m gonna miss L at ang mga coño hirit nya.

I’m gonna miss G-String and our regular chitchats, lunch conversations, and Mcdo dinner dates.

I’m gonna miss my regular clients and their sometimes eccentric habits and routines.

Heck, I’m even gonna miss client Oreo Haagen-Dazs and his showering. Uhmm, on second thought, I’m not gonna miss that.

One more week. Crap! It’s really starting to sink in . . .

Season 1, Episode 15 - DREAMS

8:11AM, Branch.

I was sleepy when I arrived in the office that morning. Ang usual na gawi, I closed the door to my room and started to turn on my PC. While waiting for the tools to pull up, I went over the pending items I left from the other day when I noticed na may umaaligid-aligid sa may see-through glass to my room. Akala ko si Ate L-Girl and her usual routine every morning na naka-smile at may sabay sabing, “Good morning, seeeer. Kuhaon nako imo tubeeg.”

Pero I gazed through and noticed that it was a different person. Si L pala. And she was smiling. Kumatok na rin finally sabay pasok.

"Good morning L," I greeted. "What can I do for you?"

"Nothing," she replied in a sing-song voice. "I just want to tell you that I dreamt about you last night."

I laughed as I continued with my paperwork. Natameme naman ako jan ha, I thought.

"I really don’t know how to react to that," I said. "Siguro depende sa kung ano ginawa natin. . ."

"No!" she reacted laughing. "It’s not what you think!"

She continued in here usual coño tone, "Well, in my dream, I was looking at watches. And for some weird reason, you suddenly appeared out of nowhere and we ended up looking at watches."

I was quiet for a few seconds, not knowing how to respond, and then said, "Uhmm, maybe we were time-conscious about something?"

"I dunno," she said while starting to leave my room. "Wala lang. I just wanted to tell you about it ‘coz it was weird that you were there."

Weird talaga, sabi ko sa sarili. Phew! And here I thought we did something perverted!

So I got curious and looked up online the possible meaning of the dream. According to the Dream Moods Dictionary, ‘to see a watch in your dream suggests you need to be more carefree or spontaneous.’ Maybe we both needed to be impulsive? Ewan!

And the dream talk didn’t just end there. When I finally set up my tools, nagutom ako and went to the pantry to have my morning serving of Cheese Rings. Yes, ganyan ako ka un-healthy sa umaga!

Teppy and Mommy-To-Be were already there.

"Hey guys, I just had the weirdest dream last night." Teppy declared while I was rummaging through what I could find in the refrigerator.

"Ano ba yan?" I said, standing up. "What’s with today and dreams? L just shared hers a while ago."

Mommy-To-Be shushed me and replied, "No, you have to listen to this ‘coz it’s funny."

Teppy smiled deliciously and started, "In my dream, I was part of the Oblation Run and I was running around naked."

I shuddered at the thought. "Ew, you didn’t have to tell me that."

"No, hear me out," he continued. "So I was running around naked. The funny thing was I was wearing my company ID pero ang nasa face was my UP school ID picture."

"Okay, where are you going with this?" I asked, mischievously.

"Wait muna, let me finish," he giggled and went on, "So I did the Oblation Run and was already on my way back to the classroom to change when suddenly, may lalake na tumapik sa likuran ko at sabay sabing, ‘Good job, bai!’"

And the conversation suddenly turned out interesting. I became intrigued, "Tapooooos, who was it?"

Teppy leaned in closer and chuckled, "Si Mr. Little Brother!!!"

"O-M-G!" I gasped leaving me with my mouth open. "Now, THAT’S a weird dream!"

"Ka-igat nimo Teppy uy!" I carried on, while munching on my Cheese Rings. "Maybe there's some subconscious psycho-babble explanation to it."

So I looked it up na rin yung possible significance ng dream ni Teppy and found out it has something to do with ‘feeling vulnerable and exposed like there’s a fear of being found out.’ So may tinatagong sikreto? Hmmm. . . May sikreto sila ni Mr. Little Brother? Ewan!

But then, there’s also the interpretation na the dreamer can ‘expect a stroke of money luck or an improvement of circumstance.’ So baka nanalo ng lotto at sinisikreto lang nya? Hay naku!

Season 1, Episode 14 - SIMPLY

It’s been quite some time since I’ve had good lasagna. Well, I certainly had the most heavenly lasagna last Saturday.

Birthday ni bespren Ichu the day before at nag-decide ang C7 na magsalo-salo to celebrate her birthday as well as news of her pregnancy. My man Ish suggested that we have lunch in Simply J’s Café and probably watch a movie after.

Simply J’s Café is located in N. Escario St., just across Cebu Parklane Hotel. Hanapin mo lang yung white house na may home décor display store and the restaurant is at the back. Gets?

Well, the restaurant itself is actually inside the home décor shop. Designed siya na parang Country Classics-slash-Premium Concepts yung vibe, like they want to project a feeling of coziness na parang nasa bahay ka lang kumakain. Rah-Rah gave me a full tour of the place and showed me na may function rooms din pala sila sa itaas which would be very ideal for business meetings and special occasions.

And while you’re waiting for your food to be served, you can also check on the many home decorations, furniture, and trinkets they have for sale.

You simply can’t miss the items they have for sale kase may price tags na nakasabit or stickers na nakadikit. Yung mga nakapaligid namin, for sale yan lahat. Pati dining table may sticker; I think Php30,000 yun.

Ito for sale.

Ito din for sale.

I think itong flower centerpiece, for sale din.

Habang naghintay sa orders namin, naglibot kami around the shop and look what we found?

With all the Christmas balls and decorations around, I think holiday yung theme ng shop nila ngayon.

I forgot to take a picture of their menu pero affordable naman ang mga dishes nila.

And now, let’s move on to food. Ish and I ordered the lasagna.

Tignan mo nga naman yan. All I can say is, first dish I tried in this place at favorite ko na siya! It’s creamy, it’s yummy, and it’s meaty. It’s just sinfully delicious! It is definitely a must try!

Loi tried their pasta carbonara and she enjoyed it. Nakihati pa nga si T.

Ichu ordered their Chicken Stir Fry while Leen had a taste of their Chicken Teriyaki-something.

Nakikain na rin kami sa sobra na Lenggua ng sister ni Ish and, in fairness, masarap din siya.

Ako lang ang nag-order ng dessert and I had their fresh fruit panna cotta. Yummy!

Simply J’s Café had me with their lasagna. Not to be biased and all kase friend ko si Rah-Rah, I give the resto 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended! I can't wait sa next visit ko 'coz I'll be trying the baby back ribs!

Simply J's Cafe is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 10AM to 9PM.

In the meantime, kase hindi naming kayang umorder ng lahat nilang dishes, here are more pictures from their FB page.

Season 1, Episode 13 - NORTHWING

Kasama ko si Ish that night and we just finished purchasing the bubbles solution she was told to buy for her sister’s wedding. At that point, papuntang assembly spot na kami. While walking, I was preoccupied with calling T over the phone; Ish was also busy texting the others. The C7 was supposed to meet up in front of Watson’s sa may Northwing area sa SM City Cebu at around 5:30 before we set off sa birthday party venue ng unang inaanak ng barkada.

Pero late lahat. Very late, actually. And still no answer from T.

“Hindi pa rin sumasagot eh. Baka tulog pa as usual or maybe naliligo,” I said, a little irritated. “What about Leen and Loi? Ni-text na ba sila?”

“They’re on their way na daw,” reply ni Ish. “In the meantime, I’ll try to call T’s mom. Baka she knows where she is.”

I looked at my watch and it read 6:32PM. “Great, we’re late na jud! Nakakahiya naman kung late tayo, my man.”

I snickered back, “Or maybe ketchup na lang ang nahabilin!”

No sense sulking about the situation, nagtawanan na lang kami while making our way to Watson’s, when I noticed a woman (let's name her Lady Manager) by the stair railings talking to a guy (let’s call him Mr. South Boy).

“Di ba si Lady Manager na?” ngumuso ako sa isang direksyon. Lady Manager is a common close friend of ours who is a manager at a local call center.

I also ended up looking at Lady Manager and then at the guy.

“Do you know the guy?” I asked surprised.

“No!” bulong niya saken. “She told me she was seeing someone daw. Pero she said they’re not an item. Told me it’s complicated.”

“You mean…both of them?” tanong ko ulit. “Ito naman si Lady Manager o! Mao diay ang FB status niya kay ‘I’m going to be okay.’ Hindi man lang nagsabi na nakapag-move on na pala si manang!”

“Hmm, it looks like they’re having an intimate conversation,“ Ish observed. “They don’t seem to notice us staring at them.”

“Like they have a world of their own,” I nodded. And then a naughty idea popped in mind, “Let’s take their pictures, paparazzi-style!”

Ish giggled in response, “Sige, sige!”

We ended up bringing out our phone-cams and started taking shots.

“Drats, masyadong pixilated at hindi klaro! Malayo kase,” sabi ko. Then I remembered and got excited, “I have with me my digital camera pala. Let’s use this!”

Flash!

“Punyeta! Ngano gigamitan man nimo ug flash?!” napatawang bulong ni Ish. “Makit-an nya ta! Hihihi!”

“Ay sorry, I forgot,” I realized. I’m never gonna be a paparazzo, I thought to myself.

Just then, Mr. South Boy suddenly shifted beside Lady Manager, na para gustong makipag hold hands.

Ish got excited, “Look, look! Makipag hold hands na o!”

I began taking the picture but my shot already caught Mr. South Boy in another position. A more kilig one actually.

Click!

Click!

I checked the photos and reacted, “Ayus ah! Ito ba ang ‘we’re not an item’? Eh, parang mag-dyowa na ‘tong dalawang ‘to! Minus lang kay nagdala jud ug plastic bag na may dako na Tupperware!”

Ish agreed na parang kinikilig, “Lady Manager has a lot of explaining to do!”

And shortly, dumating na rin sina Loi, Leen, at Chu after so many years. They caught us snickering about the incident.

“Why? What’s up?” tanong nila, nagtataka.

Napatawang tingin na lang kami ni Ish sa mga kaibigan namin, “We have news to tell about sa friend natin!”

Update: My sources tell me Mr. South Boy lives, well, in the south area. He’s a call center agent. And from what I’ve heard, marinero previous work niya and he’s a generally nice guy naman daw. Ok naman yun; as long as happy yung friend namin, happy na rin kami. Pero Lady Manager still has a lot to talk about pa rin!

Gusto niyo ng clue? His name rhymes with ‘happy’!

Season 1, Episode 11 - CLUB

I always look forward to the Friday Food Club.

The essence of the informal gathering is just simple: food, pagkain, tsibog. It’s basically a weekly outlet for us to ‘de-stress’ from the tension and pressures after a vigorous week of work. Yung iba siguro, nagna-night out at nagpapakalasing until they puke their guts out. Well, we simply eat, talk and talk, have coffee...and probably get a massage after.

Yes, ganyan kami. Kung saan-saan pumupunta para lang sa pagkain; preferably, new and untested restos every week. One week, we can be in this really uber-posh restaurant like Ipar’s. Or on another week, we can simply dine at Larsian’s Mandaue with plastic bags on both hands at mag-aamoy uling pag-uwi.

Tulad na lang ng the other week, we simply had it in The Dessert Factory sa Ayala Center Cebu Terraces.

Generally, after dinner, the club does dessert or coffee. Like last week, sa Bittersweet dapat kami, kaso tinarayan ako ng waitress na magko-close na daw in 15 minutes. So sa The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf sa Robinson’s Cybergate ang bagsak namin.

Once in a while, past members of the club would join us and catch up on things tulad na lang nitong si Minnie Gurl who flew in from Bacolod.

And in every FFC hang-out, palaging may undeclared rule yan: What happens in FFC, stays in FFC!
